Did I mention I wrote a book with Shannon Mayer?

It’s true. In fact, we wrote more than just a book together – we wrote an entire trilogy together.

Here’s the cover of the book1:

culling1 ebook e1553543120904

You may or may not have gotten a notification from Amazon that it was available for pre-order. If you haven’t, here is the link:  Shadowspell Academy pre-order

Oh, you want to know what it’s about before you just blindly hit the ‘preorder’ button? Seems a bit unusual, but okay. How’s this?

You Don’t Choose The Academy. The Academy Chooses You.

I had no idea how those words would change my life. Or how they’d changed my life already…

Until the day the most dangerous man I’ve ever met waltzed onto my farm and left us a death sentence.

In an invitation.

My younger brother has been chosen for the prestigious, secret magical school hidden within the folds of our mundane world. A place so dangerous, they don’t guarantee you’ll make it out alive.

If he doesn’t go our entire family will be killed.

It’s the same invitation my older brother received three years ago—the same place he mysteriously died.

The academy has already killed one sibling. I’ll be damned if they take another.

I do the only thing an older sister can: chop off my hair, strap on two bras to flatten the girls, and take my brother’s place.

Magic and monsters are real. Assassins are coming for me, and the dead are prone to rise. What’s a girl faking it as a boy supposed to do? That’s right—beat the academy at its own game.

Or die trying.

Better now that you’ve read the synopsis? What’s that? You’re worried it’s all YA-ish and full of teen angst, because of the “Academy” part of the name? Don’t worry about that at all. For one, the main character is an older teen/surrogate mom to her younger siblings, so she’s not your average 18 year old. For another, life is moving way too fast for her to have time to get teen-angsty, even if she wanted to. My beta reader, who is also my longest and most loyal reader (according to her) says the book is wonderful and she is completely impartial so I trust her judgment.

If you write it – I read it. It’s that simple!! I actually did hit pre order last week without reading the blurb 😂 I did back page for a nosey though 😉 I’m only human!

How long in between each book do you anticipate the releases being please Queen Breene?

Does Shannon’s bloodthirstiness for killing off beloved characters come out in this series? 😳 (If so I’ll need to prepare in advance not to get attached to ANYONE! Argh 🙈😂)

The synopsis sounds fantastic, I really can’t wait 🎉🎉 Congratulations on collaborating together at last.Your fans are excited!! 🙏💕🍀

Please please please continue this series! I’m so excited to read what happens next… Who is the big baddie assassin (and is her unique magical makeup related to him or…?), What is training like for the ragtag crew?, Ummmm Rory – much more of his character please, Why/how did Tommy die?, who rigged the culling trails to get an underaged kid there and why?, How did Wild’s invitation to the culling trials go “missing”, What are her parents’ stories?, And please *NO* love triangles (or creating wishy washy heroines who can’t make up her mind which guy she really likes – talk about promoting a degrading stereotype of women – why do YA books do this?)

Anything Shannon puts her name to, I read it. Never disapointed, but always gagging for more! Great news that this story will carry on. Wild is a brilliantly written character and I would be heartbroken to lose her. The “Crew” are put together so well. Each their own person but put together so well by two masters of the craft.congratulations and a huge thank you. Tommy

“Nearish future”. That was 8 months ago, any progress? I read these all in a single sitting the day that they came out! We are all just dangling from the cliff hanger!

The first book was catching, the second had me hooked and the third had me wanting to actually be there and join the adventure this group of friends were on. I am so hoping there is going to be more to this story. Tell me more about Wild please! And Wally, Colt and Orin.

Shadow spell Academy was my introduction to your writing. Then the Fire and Ice trilogy (Reagan and Darius -AWESOME!), the Magical Mayhem trilogy, and now the demigods of SF… As a decades long reader of Fantasy & Paranormal, I am so impressed with the fabric of your stories. The strong roles played by women, the humor and the respect between the characters (gender and species)… not to mention the romance keep me riveted. Thank you!
